CILISAT TESTING CENTRE
As a CISOC-Authorized Testing Centre for the Community Interpreter Language and Interpreting Skills Assessment Tool (CILISAT), CanLanguage is proud to facilitate the assessment process for people who want to pursue a career either full-time or part-time as an interpreter in Canada.
In 1994, at the request of Ontario's Ministry of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation, CISOC developed the Community Interpreter Language and Interpreting Skills Assessment Tool (CILISAT) in order to evaluate the language and interpretation proficiencies of people applying for certification as community interpreters.
CILISAT Certification is a prerequisite to becoming a Community Interpreter with the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta (ATIA), the only association of certified translators and interpreters in the province of Alberta.
CILISAT certification is recognized nationally and becoming a normal requirement for language service recruiters and providers across Canada.
Certification
The CILISAT will assess your translation and interpretation skills through the following tests:
-
Interpretation from English into selected CILISAT language
-
Interpretation from selected CILISAT language into English
-
Sight translation from English into selected CILISAT language
-
Sight translation from selected CILISAT language into English
To achieve certification, you must score 75% or better. All tests are marked by independent markers.
